You'll be hands-on from day one — installing service bodies, storage systems, electrical components, and specialty equipment on commercial trucks and vans. The work is detailed, the standards are high, and the builds you complete will be on the road for years.
North Central Upfitting is hiring an Upfitting Technician to join our Mounds View installation team. You'll work across a range of commercial vehicle builds — from van interior shelving systems and ladder racks to flatbeds, utility bodies, liftgates, and snow equipment — and be responsible for delivering clean, accurate installs that meet customer spec every time.
We take quality seriously. Every vehicle that leaves our facility is a direct reflection of the team that built it, and our lifetime workmanship warranty means we stand behind that work for the life of the vehicle.
What you'll do:
Install a variety of upfitting components including storage systems, service bodies, flatbeds, liftgates, lighting, and electrical equipment. Read and follow build sheets, layout diagrams, and power management documentation. Inspect completed builds for quality and accuracy prior to delivery. Collaborate with other technicians and the sales team to ensure builds meet customer requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
What we're looking for:
2+ years of experience in vehicle upfitting, automotive installation, or a related trade. Proficiency with hand and power tools. Ability to read wiring diagrams and follow detailed build specifications. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Experience with 12V electrical systems is a plus.
What we offer:
Competitive hourly wage based on experience. Full benefits package. A stable, employee-owned company where skilled tradespeople are valued and supported. Opportunities to grow your skills across multiple vehicle categories and upfitting disciplines.
